Access is part of the work

Accessibility and feedback

I want em2.bio to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who navigate by keyboard, use assistive technology, magnify content, or reduce motion.

Current aim: the site is being developed toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. This is an engineering goal, not a claim of audited conformance.

Measures in place

  • Keyboard-operable navigation, controls, dialogs, and visible focus indicators.
  • Semantic headings, landmarks, labels, status messages, and text alternatives for meaningful images.
  • Responsive layouts, reflow support, reduced-motion preferences, and forced-color accommodations.
  • A no-JavaScript path to my name, résumé, email, and this accessibility page.

Known limitations

Some molecular visualizations, dense scientific data displays, and interactive prototypes may require more work with screen readers, browser magnification, or non-pointer input. The résumé is currently a PDF; an alternative format is available on request.

Scientific tools can also depend on third-party public-data services. A service outage may limit a feature even when the rest of the page remains available.

How I assess the site

I use automated source and release checks, rendered checks at desktop and mobile sizes, keyboard review, reduced-motion checks, and high-contrast/forced-color inspection. Broader assistive-technology testing is ongoing.
